The Executive Sous Chef works alongside the Executive Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing kitchen staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage kitchen staff along with the Executive Chef, including providing necessary direction and training.
- Assist with the preparation and design of food and drink menus.
- Ensure all plates leaving the kitchen meet taste and design standards.
- Ensure that the kitchen operates efficiently, effectively, and professionally, in accordance with our high-quality standards.
- Ensure adequate kitchen staffing.
- Quickly resolve/address issues that arise with kitchen staff, distributors, and vendors.
- Maintain kitchen inventory and order supplies.
- Confirm compliance with all sanitation and health and safety standards.
- Fill in for the Executive Chef when necessary.
- Manage relationships with distributors and resolve issues with vendors promptly.
- Maintain and repair kitchen equipment as necessary.
The successful candidate will…
- Have a high school diploma; culinary degree or completion of related certification or apprentice program preferred.
- Possess at least two (2) years of experience as a Sous Chef with a proven track record of leading and managing others and possessing a servant-leader mentality.
- Be able to effectively manage and direct a large team.
- Possess solid knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, health and safety standards, and familiarity with industry best practices.
- Possess the ability to effectively and professionally engage, interact and collaborate with residents, guest, suppliers and associates.
- Have excellent communication skills; multi-lingual skills a plus.
- Be a customer-focused, proactive problem-solver.
- Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Be willing and able to work early morning hours.
- Be proficient in POS, desktop, inventory management, payroll management, MS Word and Excel.
- Be willing and able to take and pass a drug screen.
- Be willing to consent to and able to pass a criminal background screen.
- Have the ability to walk, sit, and stand.
- Have the ability to reach, bend and stoop frequently and lift 50 lbs.
- SERVSafe certification preferred.
- Experience in multi-outlet operations preferred.
- Be willing and able to take and pass a drug screen.
- Be willing to consent to and able to pass a criminal background screen.
